Phil Hoechst (Owner/Brewmaster)
Phil grew up in Fitchburg, WI and received his bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Psychology and later a doctorate in Physical Therapy, all from UW-Madison. Coincidentally, while studying and enjoying UW’s extracurricular activities he met his wife Sara. After college they lived and worked in Denver before moving back to Verona. It was in Denver that Phil discovered a passion for brewing. Ever the student, Phil hit the books to gain knowledge and know-how. He imparted on a path of beer enlightenment and the dream of opening a brewery took shape. He is already training his two sons to pour a proper pint. Phil is a Pisces and he enjoys anything made of fleece and well-written to-do lists. He is very serious about not taking himself too seriously.
Sara Hoechst (Owner/Beer Ambassador)
Sara was raised in Verona! She attended UW-Madison and received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and later another bachelor’s degree in Dietetics. She has extensive experience in all facets of the food service industry; hostess, manager, accounting, waitress, and selling booze to thirsty golfers from her beverage cart! She looks forward to the challenge of opening a successful brewpub with 2 small children at home (and working alongside her husband). Since her days at UW, her palate has undergone an impressive evolution and she is fond of most hop-bombs. Sara enjoys a nice latte, snuggles from her sons and can change diapers with her eyes closed.
Tim Goers (Assistant Brewer/Head of Beer Sales)
Tim joined Hop Haus Brewing Co. in March of 2016. He previously molded the marketing and business minds of high schoolers in the Madison area for 7 years, but became thirsty for a new professional challenge and took a leap into the craft beer world. Tim’s current title at Hop Haus is Assistant Brewer and Head of B.S. (Beer Sales). He loves what he does and when he’s not helping brew a hoppy new beer, you can find him running around town in short shorts, spending time with his wife and dog, or trying to find time to work on his MBA. Tim’s favorite Hop Haus brew depends on the day. Right now Yardwork and Hidden Stash are high on the list.
